Solar equipment is valuable. In busy areas of Port Harcourt, Warri, Yenagoa and in lodges and compounds, theft is a real worry. These steps help.
Protect the panels
- Anti-theft bolts on every clamp.
- Keep panels on the roof where possible. Ground mounts need fencing. Read roof vs ground mount.
- Security lights that come on at night.
- CCTV facing the roof or array. See solar for CCTV.
Protect the batteries and inverter
Batteries are the most valuable part.
- A lockable room with a strong door
- Burglar bars on windows
- Wall brackets bolted from inside
- Out of sight from the street
Record everything
| Item | What to record |

Lodges and shared buildings
Lock the battery room. Only the landlord or caretaker has the key. Read solar for landlords.
