What moves the price

What affects the cost of solar in Nigeria

01

Battery size

The biggest cost. Lithium storage runs roughly ₦220,000 per kWh installed. Running an AC through the night is what pushes it up.

02

Inverter size and type

A hybrid inverter that also uses grid power costs a little more than basic off-grid, but lets you buy a smaller battery.

Hybrid vs off-grid
03

Panel brand and count

Tier-one panels such as Jinko and Longi cost more up front and keep their output for 25 years. Unbranded panels lose power fast.

04

Your building

Bungalows are simplest. Upstairs buildings and duplexes can need longer cable runs and more roof-access equipment.

05

Location and logistics

Equipment prices are the same everywhere we work. Long drives or boat trips (Bonny, Brass) add a transport line on the quote.

What you want to power

ACs, pumps, freezers and pressing irons change the size of everything. The calculator sizes it from your appliance list.

FAQ

Solar price FAQs

How much is a 5kVA solar system in Nigeria in 2026?

An installed 5kVA solar system with a 5kWh lithium battery and about 3kW of panels costs roughly ₦2.2M – ₦2.8M in Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa. The battery is the biggest variable: doubling it to 10kWh adds about ₦1.1M.

How much is a 10kVA solar system in Nigeria?

A 10kVA system with 15kWh of lithium storage and 6 to 7kW of panels typically costs ₦5.1M – ₦6.5M installed. Large homes and offices are always quoted after a site assessment because loads vary a lot.

Why is the battery the most expensive part of a solar system?

Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries cost more per kWh than any other component, and the battery is sized for the hours you need power at night. A home that wants AC all night needs far more storage than one running lights and fans.

Does installing on an upstairs building cost more?

Slightly, sometimes. Storey buildings can need longer cable runs, more conduit and safety equipment for roof access. The difference is usually small and is itemised on your quote.

Is it cheaper to buy panels and batteries myself and hire a technician?

It can look cheaper, but mismatched parts, fake panels and undersized cables are the main reasons solar systems fail in Nigeria. A proper installer sizes everything together and gives you one warranty that covers the whole job.

How long does it take for solar to pay for itself?

For homes and shops running a generator most of the day, often one to two years at October 2026 petrol prices (about ₦1,500 per litre in Port Harcourt). After that, the fuel money stays in your pocket. The calculator works it out for your own fuel spend.
