A lithium battery is the most expensive part of your solar system. The warranty protects that money. But only if it is a real warranty.
The 7 questions
1. How many years?
Look for 5 years or more.
2. How many cycles?
A cycle is one full use and refill. Good LiFePO4 batteries are rated for thousands of cycles.
3. What capacity is promised?
A real warranty says something like: "at least 70% (or 80%) capacity after X years or Y cycles". Without this, a weak battery may still be "working".
4. Who handles claims in Nigeria?
If the maker is abroad, who checks the battery here? Who replaces it? Get a name and address.
5. What voids it?
Common reasons:
- Flood or water damage
- Physical damage
- Wrong inverter settings
- Opening the case
- Using it outside its limits
6. Is the installation covered?
Battery warranty covers the battery. Workmanship warranty covers the install. LumaGrid gives a 2-year workmanship warranty. Read solar warranty explained.
7. Is it in writing?
"It has warranty" means nothing. You need a document with the serial number, date and seller details.
