Lithium batteries come in different shapes. The shape changes where you can put it and how easy it is to add more later.
The three main types
| Wall-mount | Stackable / floor-standing | Rack | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it goes | On the wall | On the floor | In a metal cabinet |
| Space | Saves floor | Uses floor | Uses floor |
| Flood safety | Best | Needs a raised base | Needs a raised base |
| Adding more | Add another unit on wall | Add a module on top | Add a module in the rack |
| Best for | Flats, small homes | Family homes | Offices, big systems |
Wall-mount
Great for flats in Rumuola, Woji or Effurun where space is small. It also keeps the battery high. That matters in flood-prone parts of Yenagoa and Sagbama. Read protecting solar from floods.
Stackable or floor-standing
Modules sit on top of each other. Some have wheels. Easy to grow: add another module when you need more power. Put it on a raised base if your area floods.
Rack
Many modules slide into a metal rack. Common for offices on Trans-Amadi, schools and hotels.
What matters more than shape
- Chemistry: LiFePO4
- A good BMS
- Matching your inverter's voltage
- A written warranty
